Soaring

When he was younger and had more free time, Christian Bär used to fly gliders. He started learning it at the University of Bonn, continued at the Long Island Soaring Association, had his first solo flight at the Dillingham Airfield on Oahu, and in 1992 he got his private pilot license in Arizona.

Back in Germany, he flew gliders at the Akaflieg Freiburg. For several years, he owned his own single seater, a Grob Astir CS.
